EB 5 Visa – Investor
The EB-5 Program, also known as the Immigrant Investor Program, is a United States visa program that was created by Congress in 1990 to encourage foreign investment in the country. Here is some information about the EB-5 Program:
What is the EB-5 Program? The EB-5 Program is a U.S. visa program that allows foreign nationals to obtain permanent residency in the United States by investing in a new commercial enterprise that creates jobs in the country. The program is designed to stimulate the U.S. economy by creating jobs and promoting economic growth through foreign investment.
How does the EB-5 Program work? To participate in the EB-5 Program, a foreign investor must invest a minimum of $1.8 million in a new commercial enterprise in the United States that creates at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers. If the investment is made in a targeted employment area (TEA), which is an area with high unemployment or a rural area, the minimum investment requirement is $900,000.
Once the investment is made, the investor can apply for an EB-5 visa and, if approved, can obtain conditional permanent residency in the United States for a period of two years. After two years, if the investor can demonstrate that the investment created at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers, the conditional status can be removed and the investor can become a permanent resident of the United States.
What are the benefits of the EB-5 Program?
- Permanent residency: Successful applicants receive conditional permanent residency in the United States, which allows them to live, work, and study in the country.
- No sponsor required: Unlike other U.S. visa programs, the EB-5 Program does not require a sponsor or job offer.
- Freedom of movement: Once the conditional status is removed, EB-5 investors have the freedom to live and work anywhere in the United States.
- Education benefits: EB-5 investors and their dependents have access to U.S. public schools and universities at the same cost as U.S. citizens.
- Pathway to citizenship: After living in the United States for a certain amount of time, EB-5 investors may be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship.
