What is the EB-5 Program? The EB-5 Program is a U.S. visa program that allows foreign nationals to obtain permanent residency in the United States by investing in a new commercial enterprise that creates jobs in the country. The program is designed to stimulate the U.S. economy by creating jobs and promoting economic growth through foreign investment.
How does the EB-5 Program work? To participate in the EB-5 Program, a foreign investor must invest a minimum of $1.8 million in a new commercial enterprise in the United States that creates at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers. If the investment is made in a targeted employment area (TEA), which is an area with high unemployment or a rural area, the minimum investment requirement is $900,000.
Once the investment is made, the investor can apply for an EB-5 visa and, if approved, can obtain conditional permanent residency in the United States for a period of two years. After two years, if the investor can demonstrate that the investment created at least 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers, the conditional status can be removed and the investor can become a permanent resident of the United States.
